President Obama and the first BYU football game

Last Friday, Aug 29,  BYU had their first football game.  We were invited to watch the game and have a dinner at a friend's home.  There were five total couples.   One of the couples has been dating for ten years.  The woman did not make a peep and she looked totally miserable.  The guy struck me as creepy, as he bent down and talked to you about one inch away from your face.  I had never met this guy before and he made me feel really uncomfortable to say the least.  He was kid of clingy.

After we got there, I remarked to my husband that I wondered how long it would take for someone to bash President Obama.  I knew it would happen before the night was over, and I was right.  As soon as the game ended here it came:  "Why that Obama is the worst President we have ever had and he does not know wht he is going-- bah  bah bah.............................  Of course this comment went on and on by the guy who started it.  But wait!  There were four of us that are Democrats (gasp)!  So we all had to kind of set him straight.

Got to love living in Happy Valley!

Chickens? There is no law against having chickens!

I love living here in Happy Valley.  Some make their own rules that do not apply to them.  It is called "entitlement".  Take Sister Dough-Tara.  There is a law against having chickens in the city limits.  But that law does not apply to her.  She is a busy mom to fourteen children, and she has to juggle her part time job as a midwife.  She does not have time to shop, so she has her own chickens in her yard.  That way she can feed her hungry mouths without making unscheduled trips to the local market.  Chickens are not messy and they do not stink.  They do not attract bugs and insects.  They do not spread disease.  They don't get sick,and they are not noisy.  Therefore, Sister Dough-Tara has every right to have illegal chickens.  The neighbors do not mind either, as some of them have chickens as well, like the Bishop of the ward.  He has chickens to help feed the less fortunate members of the ward.  Why anyone can live on eggs alone.

The tale does not end here though.  Sister Dough-Tara had her chickens against the fence of the backdoor neighbor, who was not amused by the whole thing,  Sister Dobey kindly asked her to move her chickens somewhere else in her yard, as the mess was coming over in her yard.  Since Sister Dobey was not married in the temple, Sister Dough-Tara just kindly ignored her request.  In the next Fast and Testimony Meeting Sister Dough-Tara bore her testimony about how she had a testimony of the only true Church, and how much she loved her neighbors.

I Stand All Amazed at Cliven Bundy

Nothing amazes me anymore.  Right winger High Priest in the Mormon church has opened his mouth again.  Cliven Bundy. Mormon Cliven spoke in St. George, Utah on Saturday August 2 at a gathering for the Independent American Party.  He stated that God provided him personal inspiration in the showdown over cattle in Bunkerville, Nevada.  He stated, " The Lord 
told me if the local sheriff doesn't take away these arms from federal agents, we the people will have to face these arms in a civil war.  This is your chance to straighten this thing up".  Other Bundy family members stated that they fasted in prayed for the spirit of their forefathers to be with them as they prepared on horseback to defy the Bureau of Land Management's effort to impound his cattle.

Cliven thinks it is okay to owe the government about a millions dollars, and just roll over and ignore  the matter. What a nice and example for all.......

I am not buying this one

In his new book, “The Lincoln Hypothesis”, Timothy Ballard (former CIA and DHS operative)  tries to make one believe that Abraham Lincoln had a copy of the Book Of Mormon.

I guess the question about this book is "how does he know this and where did he get the information from?"

When I first heard the commercial for this book, and that it was published by Deseret Book, I had to make sure that what I heard was correct.  Seriously?  Deseret Book published a book about this?  Where is the information coming from?

The only thing that Abraham Lincoln had in common was that he knew Joseph and Hyrum, and he was a Master Freemason, like Joseph and Hyrum.  Brigham Young was not a fan of President Lincoln was not fond of the Mormons either.  He did not like polygamy.  

Decide what you may, but I am not buying this one......

The Swallow/Shurtleff Saga

Two  former Attorney Generals for the State of Utah were arrested on numerous counts yesterday, July 15,2014.  They were arrested at their homes early in the morning by the FBI and Public Safety.

Swallow, who was forced from office in December less than a year into his first term, was charged in 3rd District Court with 11 felonies and two misdemeanors, including multiple counts of receiving or soliciting bribes, accepting gifts, tampering with evidence, obstructing justice and participating in a pattern of unlawful conduct.

Shurtleff, who served 12 years as attorney general before making Swallow his handpicked Republican successor, was charged with 10 felonies, including receiving or soliciting bribes, accepting gifts, tampering with witnesses and evidence, and participating in a pattern of unlawful conduct.

John Swallow was forced out of office after only serving ten months.  He was replaced with someone even worse, Sean Reyes.    GA Reyes is dead set on fighting gay marriage, and does not  care about wasting the tax payers money.  Never mind more funding for schools, expanding medicaid for the Utah poor.  That is more important at this time.  This is the Utah Way.

Don't believe everything you hear!

Just because it is on the internet or Fox News does not mean that it is true.  But Mitt running again is out there for all who wants to believe it. The GOP really does not have any one else to put out there, really.  It could be Hilary and Mitt.  It all will start soon, I am afraid.  Living in Happy Valley means if you are not for Mitt, you are going to be banished......

I well remember the fasting and praying for Mitt letter that went around last election.  It was sent to us by well meaning family.  Even though we told them we were not a fan of Mitt, they kept sending us the "fasting letter".    Here is a copy of that letter:

We were contacted today and asked to participate in a fast on Sunday for Mitt Romney and asked to enlist others to do the same. That’s what this email is about.

It is specifically to pray for him to have the Spirit with him during all the debates, but especially this first one. Some suggestions of what to pray for are that he may have clarity of mind, recall of information, strength of convictions and present himself as strong and confident. You’ve no doubt heard it said that this is the most important election in many years. We are not only electing a President, but defining the future of the United States of America by the choices that we make. If we live righteously, the Lord will continue to bless this covenant land as He has promised.

If you feel that this is something that you would like to be a part of, wonderful. If you feel comfortable enlisting others to join in, even better! As the Primary children will tell us on Sunday, we need to “Choose the Right”.

Racism is alive and well in Mormon country

If you have never really met a real life racist, just hold on a minute. Enter Cliven Bundy who is alive and well in Bunkerville, Nevada.

Bundy, who became a national figure when his fight against the federal government over grazing rights gained widespread attention earlier this year, suggested in remarks first reported by the New York Times in April that he wondered if African Americans were better off as slaves.

“I want to tell you one more thing I know about the Negro,” Bundy said. “I’ve often wondered: Are they better off as slaves, picking cotton and having a family life and doing things, or are they better off under government subsidy? They didn’t get no more freedom. They got less freedom".     .......taken from The Washington Post.

After he was condemned for his comments, he apologized but said he meant every word.

Patriot Games

There is one person that has as much clout as the Prophet of the Mormon Church, and that person is none other than Glenn Beck, the madman of the airwaves. If you live in Happy Valley he is the ultimate SUPER HERO!  Every one needs a Jack Bauer in their life, and Glenn is the one!  He follows the teaching of Cleon Skousen, who was steep into the rantings of the John Birch Society.  Skousen did not sit well with the Mormom Church's leadership. Skousen justified slavery and called slave children "pickanninies".  That was not good for the church, as at that time the blacks could not hold the priesthood.  Church President Spencer W. Kimball gave the priesthood to the blacks and told Skousen and his groupies to hit the road.  Skousen had formed the Freeman Institute and it was censored by the leadership of the Mormon Church.  Brother Beck has not quite caught the vision of it all and promotes Skousen's books, and writes forwards in some of them that have been best sellers on Amazon.

Beck was forced to leave Fox News, as his advertisers were dropping off like fleas from a dog. He called President Obama a racist.  He left Fox before he got fired.  He was not going to play the game anymore.....

Thanks Obama!

If you live in Utah, you blame President Obama for everything!  Obamacare, also known as Afforable Care Act;    the recent ISIS taking over  Iraq, lying about Benghazi, unemployment rate, 

You probably think he is the worst President since WWII!  Well there, the stock market is at the highest, unemployment is low, and there are no really good Republican candidates on the horizon........

But wait!!  If you live in Happy Valley, it is your duty to hate Obama.  That is the Utah Way.

Utah and the Medicaid Expansion

Utah’s Catholic bishop: If you’re pro-life, you’re pro-Medicaid expansion
In a sharply worded editorial , the head of Utah’s 300,000 Catholics asked why in "a state that proudly proclaims its pro-life beliefs," political leaders are "frittering away" the chance to expand Medicaid.

This is because of the hatred for Obama.  This is because of our Utah Legislature and our Governor Herbert.   Basically this is a disgrace to the poor of Utah.  The LDS Church has not made any kind of statement on the issue either.  For a Church that is sympathetic to the poor, and even pay members doctor bills and has a storehouse of food, etc, one would think that they take a stand on the expansion

."Right now an opportunity to protect the dignity and sanctity of human life in Utah is being squandered by legislators who refuse to act in a morally responsible manner," the Rev. John C. Wester wrote in the Intermountain Catholic, a weekly newspaper published by the Salt Lake Diocese. "Utah cannot proclaim itself a pro-life state so long as it refuses to provide access to basic health care coverage to a significant portion of its citizens."

Wester said he was motivated to speak out after GOP legislative leaders this summer declared there would be no decision on Medicaid until 2015, well after November’s election.

This news came despite two years of studying the matter and public opinion polls showing overwhelming support for Utah Gov. Gary Herbert’s private-market alternative tapping public dollars to buy private coverage for 111,000 working poor and uninsured.----taken from the Salt Lake Tribune

Remember this when you go to the polls next time, and you have the opportunity to get rid of your current state representative.....

10th Circuit Court: Utah’s same-sex marriage ban is unconstitutional

The Utah Attorney General’s Office said in a statement that it will push to have the issue heard by the Supreme Court, but hasn’t decided whether it will ask for a full-court review by the 10th Circuit.  The governor and the attorney general are going to fight this to the bitter end.  They are going to waste more tax payer money to take this to the Supreme Court.  We will have to wait and see what happens.

I liked the Attorney Generals Office when John Swallow was running the show.  He was so involved in covering his tracks, and destroying evidence that he had no time to waste our tax money by taking this issue to the courts.  

Kate Kelly and Ordain Women

The headlines today and the big announcement was the excommunication of Kate Kelly of Ordain Women. Let's get real.  Did she really think she was going to able to pull this one off?  It will be interesting to see what happens to the other women who have posted their profiles on that website.  In case you don’t know where to find this one, it is here:

I tend to be a little liberal, but not that liberal.  Geez.  But then John Swallow is still a member of the LDS Church, and so is his buddy Mr. Shurtliff.    Hopefully this will go away and we will not have to hear about this every time we turn on the radio or television.
